Citations & Fines

Appeals

A parking violation may be contested if there are grounds for appeal. Lack of knowledge of the regulations does not constitute valid grounds for appeal. Citation appeals must be received within seven (7) calendar days of the date of issuance.

How It Works

A committee of employee and student representatives meets monthly to adjudicate appeals. The appellant will be notified of the committee’s decision in writing after the appeal hearing. If the committee upholds the citation, the fine must be paid within seven (7) calendar days.

Submit Your Appeal in One of the Following Ways:

  • Online
  • In the form of a letter addressed to the Emory TPS Appeals Committee, c/o Emory Transportation and Parking Services, 1945 Starvine Way, Suite 400B, Decatur, GA 30033
  • By email to parking@emory.edu

Outstanding Citations

Individuals with outstanding fines will not be allowed to purchase new permits/passes until the fines are paid in full. Outstanding fines can also result in the loss of parking access, immobilization of the vehicle, or the vehicle being towed.

Only Ticket Policy

Citations will be automatically voided if any parking citation less than $36 at the end of the fiscal year (September 1 - August 31) for no permit and incorrect zone citations only, and only if it remains the only ticket issued. If any second ticket is issued, the owner is responsible for paying all fines.
