They are a group of Emory faculty and staff bike commuters who mentor and support new bike riders, help them plan safe and comfortable bike routes, provide tips and best practices for biking as a commuter, and support them as they start their bike commute journey. Our Bike Ambassadors are committed to strengthening the cycling community here at Emory.
Get matched with an ambassador by completing our Personal Commute Plan form and selecting "Biking" as your mode of commute!

I am Managing Director of the Emory Global Diabetes Research Center and the Georgia Center for Diabetes Translation Research in the Rollins School of Public Health. I have been cycling daily to Emory since 2007 and greatly enjoy how it energizes me by the time I get to work and relaxes me by the time I get back home. It’s not often that you hear someone say that their favorite part of the work day is their commute but that is the case with commuter cycling.
I have worked at Grady ER for over a year now and will be transitioning to be new faculty in the PA program in the School of Medicine. I live in Decatur and sold my car about a year ago to bike full time to Grady and now to the University. I have learned a lot about biking around Atlanta, including how best to ride in the dark. My cycling interests include Gravel riding and new bike technology.
I am an SOM staff member and work at Emory University Hospital. I started bike commuting when working in the Netherlands and loved it, but was nervous about trying to bike in Atlanta traffic up the hills in the heat. However, to cut down on car use and save on parking costs, I decided to go for it! I get to work out on my way to and from work, which helps me wake up in the morning and decompress in the afternoon. I’m passionate about sharing my love of biking and working together to increase accessibility. See you on the PATH!
I primarily bike to Emory from Edgewood, but also take the Marta green line and the Emory shuttle on some days. I love having alternative transit options because I find that it puts me in a better mood and when I bike, I have a built-in workout for that day. When I take the train and shuttle, I have time to respond to emails or read a book. Saves money and helps the environment!
I've been working at Emory University Student Health Services since November of 2021 as an RN. I've been bike commuting from my house in the City of Decatur this whole time. On my 2nd day of employment, my old bike just gave up. I had bought her used in 1985, so the Schwinn served her time! That very night, I got a new, excellent, seafoam colored bike!
When it's raining I either catch a ride with my neighbor, who also works at Student Health, or I take the shuttle. The shuttle is clean, quiet and on time and my neighbor’s car is electric!
When not working, I love to cook. The photo is my “crying tears of Job” after staging a successful potluck! My wife and I can also be found on the tennis court every weekend. In addition to myself and my wife, my family consists of our 2 daughters, both in their 20's!
