Electric Vehicle Charging

Charging your vehicle on campus:
PLAN AHEAD! Download either the ChargePoint or Plugzio app and register for an account before parking in a designated charging space.
Follow the posted signs in the parking deck or lot to locate the charging spaces.
Be courteous. Move your vehicle after your charging session to allow other customers to charge theirs.

Level 1 Charging

Emory has Level 1 charging outlets in the following campus decks, and are available to any permit holder with access to these decks. These Level 1 Charging Outlets are smart outlets which require a user-provided cord.

Level 1 Charging Outlets:

Starvine (3 spaces, level 4)
Michael Street (5 spaces, levels 1 & 7)
Fishburne (2 spaces, level 3)
Gatewood (2 spaces, level 3)

Level 2 Charging

Emory currently has four Chargepoint Electric Vehicle Charging Stations on campus. These level 2 charging stations require a credit card to activate the chargers.

CHARGEPOINT Level 2 Charging Stations:

Peavine (4 spaces)
Clairmont Tower (2 spaces)
Oxford Road (Express Charger 1 space)

Level 2 charging is your fastest public charging type. It’s perfect for charging quickly on the road or when time is scarce. Keep in mind DC charging is more expensive and can impact your battery’s lifespan.

The hourly charging rate is $0.85/hour for the first four (4) hours, $5/hour thereafter; the rate increases to encourage patrons to move their vehicles to allow other patrons to use the charging stations. Revenue from the charging stations is used to offset electrical, administrative, and maintenance costs. Rates, parking spaces, and conditions may be adjusted based on data received.
