Pedestrian Safety Campaign

Distracted drivers + speeding bicycles + emergency vehicles = accidents!

The Look Out Campaign

Emory University Transportation and Parking Services promotes Look Out For Each Other, an ongoing safety campaign aimed at raising awareness of pedestrian safety on the Druid Hills campus.

Everyone is a pedestrian at some point during the day. Whether walking in a parking deck, across campus, or waiting for a shuttle, we should all be aware of our surroundings and alert to the fact that other pedestrians and drivers are likely distracted. We all need to look out for each other!

The campaign targets three pedestrians on campus, campus shuttle buses, and campus parking decks.

Pedestrians

Emory University’s beautiful campus is best seen when on foot. The campaign will seek to raise awareness of the importance of using crosswalks when it is necessary to cross a road. LOOK OUT for messages on campus related to a safe and hazard-free walk.

Shuttles

Emory University's Transportation department provides shuttle service designed to keep the Emory community safe during their commute. One of the greatest dangers is vehicles passing a shuttle bus unloading passengers. LOOK OUT for a new message on the busses alerting drivers to “Do Not Pass.”

Parking Decks

Slow down! The parking decks on campus have posted speed limits of 5 mph. Drivers and passengers become pedestrians the moment they exit their car. A vehicle traveling 10mph will take a minimum of 20 feet to stop. LOOK OUT for reminders to slow down in the parking decks on campus.
