LOOK OUT For Each Other

Pedestrian Safety Campaign

Distracted drivers + speeding bicycles + emergency vehicles = Accidents!

The LOOK OUT Campaign

Beginning in April 2015, Emory University Transportation and Parking Services will launch a safety campaign aimed at raising awareness of pedestrian safety on the Druid Hills campus.  We want everyone to “Look Out For Each Other”.

Everyone is a pedestrian at some point during the day.  Whether in the parking decks, walking across campus, or waiting for a shuttle, we all need to be aware of our surroundings, and alert to the likelihood that other pedestrians and drivers are distracted.  We all need to “LOOK OUT For Each Other”.

The campaign is targeting three specific areas — pedestrians on campus, shuttle busses, and campus parking decks.

Pedestrians
  Shuttles
  Parking Decks
Emory University’s beautiful campus is best seen when on foot. The campaign will seek to raise awareness of the importance of using crosswalks when it is necessary to cross a road. LOOK OUT for messages on campus related to a safe and hazard-free walk.

Emory University's Transportation department provides shuttle service designed to keep the Emory community safe during their commute. One of the greatest dangers is vehicles passing a shuttle bus unloading passengers. LOOK OUT for a new message on the busses alerting drivers to “Do Not Pass.”

Slow down! The parking decks on campus have posted speed limits of 5 mph. Drivers and passengers become pedestrians the moment they exit their car. A vehicle traveling 10mph will take a minimum of 20 feet to stop. LOOK OUT for reminders to slow down in the parking decks on campus.
